New IPPC numbers

The ordinance on the amendment of phytosanitary regulations, as presented in the draft bill of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, entails considerable changes in labeling in accordance with the International Plant Protection Convention (ISPM 15/IPPC). 

The new features at a glance:

• Electronic registration procedure: The regulation introduces a new electronic registration procedure to improve transparency and efficiency in labelling.
• Re-allocation of all IPPC numbers: All IPPC numbers are reassigned through the electronic registration procedure.
• Abandonment of federal state abbreviations: The new numbers will probably no longer contain the abbreviation of the federal state.
• Shortening of the numbers: The IPPC numbers are shortened, which leads to easier handling and faster identification.
• 3-year transitional period
• Everyone receives a new IPPC number
• Consideration for repairs and new investments: The changeover should be considered now, especially for repairs and new investments.
