Our solutions for tamper-proof labeling

Effective protection against product piracy

Whether in the pharmaceutical industry, automotive or food production, ensuring counterfeit-proof products is an urgent issue. The ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting) agreement combats global piracy and copyright infringement, and manufacturers are subject to a wide range of anti-counterfeiting labeling requirements. For example, in accordance with EU directives, medical devices must be provided with individual, encrypted serial numbers and first-opening protection as of 2019. The focus is not only on dangerous plagiarism, companies also have to protect themselves against damage to their reputation and product liability lawsuits. Good anti-counterfeiting protection is provided by a combination of various measures in serialization (unambiguous traceability), coding (product marking with barcodes or 3D codes) or tamper-proof direct marking on the product (by laser systems or inkjet printers).

Applying security features with inkjet systems

Permanent and abrasion-resistant markings can be applied by laser marking to surfaces such as metal, plastic or glass. Special security labels are used for packaging of all kinds. They are printed with security features that are difficult to copy and in some cases invisible, for example, only visible under UV or infrared light. MEK-free ink is used in the food and cosmetics sectors. Anti-counterfeiting features such as holograms or tilt-effect inks can also be printed on labels. Both edding systems and Citronix systems are particularly suitable for these tasks.

Recommended products

With edding special inks and Citronix UV systems in particular, counterfeit protection can be implemented in a process-safe manner.
